Nice video Asma! Smooth action by our man Sof; we are all so proud of you dude!
Windsurfing X-Freestyle Bay Games (any other name suggestions?) do need to take place. Let's make it happen by 2009, planning this year. I suggest TI as possible venue, assuming the F-Navy get their act together and finish the clean up operation there. In terms of wind quality/consistency and ideal freestyle venue, there is no place like it in the Bay.

No worries, you're honoust and that's what's most important, because you gotta do what you like to do the most. I love big waves (to a limit though).
Don't worry about the sharks, changes of getting killed while driving to the beach are a million times higher or so compared to being killed by the warden.
However, I don't windsurf to compete. I only windsurf because it is absolute fun/magic/awesome/etc/etc.Competition (in fair conditions) is nice because it motivates me to learn more, and to see how you do against others.
ps: never enter a competition thinking the other guy is so great; that way u've already lost....
pps: congrats on 2nd place at the frenzy, and if you hadn't broken ur board I think peter was in for some serious trouble!!

I dunno about wave sailing I can't even think of myself competing in the surf i'm so a beginner when it comes toocean. Scared of Big ass whites and can't make it out in big surf. I definitely can race and freestyle but waves are not for me. That's why i didn't show up at waddell's event, i was working on my port tack geko-air-hoss-tack-flaka-upwind-360 in berkeley then :))
keep on sailin

yo sofie,
Agreed!! And we (Rich and I) will do the frenzy next year. If we can do 5 days for the george james, we can do 5 days for the waiting period in the frenzy. Had we only known the games would be organized so badly... Royn had invited us, but since the go-no-go decision would be made the same day we could do it, because we already had signed up for the GG, and we only have so much vacation days to spend...
Peter is certainly a VERY VERY good sailor (note: I actually saw him miss a lot of moves: and it's on tape if you don't believe me), but after having sailed with him for a few days there are some weaknesses that are to be exploited. One of which, and no offense to any of the other master-sailors: he hasn't had a serious thread from multiple sailors. U certainly were and are, but if we add Rich and me in the equation things may start to look differently with more pressure...if conditions are good and not sub 6.2 winds... Other issue: he seems to need a lot of set-up time and therefore also needs a lot of real estate for his moves. You can do almost 2, 3 moves in the time he does 1.5... : At the hatch on sunday, I did a forward comming in, turned, stayed in the straps, pulled a clew1st puneta, and after that a vulcan on the inside; in the same time he did a funell, and got halfway on the river...
If I wil leave the coast???? Don't think so, that's still where my true windsurf heart lies. I've sacrieficed many epic days at the coast for freestyle sailing this year and need a serious wave sesh again. Still the larger part of my sailing will be freestyle (due to family, work, and other time constraints).
I hear ya on the bay WINDSURF freestyle frenzy. Rich and I talked about organizing such an event, but I don't know if we are, considering our current family status etc, the right people to be able to do so. It would be absolutely great and needed. Any suggestions???? If we keep things simple, it should be easy to pull-off.
My neck hurts, but will sail today anyhow!
aloha,

Hey Arnie, thanks for the comment. It sucks you guys had to compete in no wind. You should have done the Frenzy it would be so much fun! I'm sure Royn invited you and Rich to do the event. Kevin wanted to do it too but he's still under 35 so he ends up with the mens or the super frenzy. One is "gorge style" no sliding moves: only forwards backs, pushs and only vulcans count. The other (super frenzy) is for the latest-highest level of sliding moves including jumping moves. Basically, anyone can compete anywhere except for those under 35 can't go to the masters division witch is open to all kind of skills moves and jumps.
The action was insane!! Hope to see you there next season.
"Be prepared" :) well, i am trying new moves now but my shoulder is hurting.
You guys have to leave the coast for a while if you got plans to beat Najim. He is super consistent in his switch and regular moves. Just give him the right condition and he won't miss one single landing. He does all switch on both tack as well including double flaka, conabrava and ponch. switch chatcho, e-slider, clue first e-slider, puneta, funnel and funnel diablo are all in his repertoire...
We need to get the King of the bay back to action with no freaking kiting. There are plenty of great sailors in the bay area and a local event is a reflection of the good conditions we have here. We also could change the name of the event to "bay area freestyle frenzy" to avoid any conflict with "king of the bay" ownership and keep the kiters away.

nice video man, nice fluid moves. The hatch rocks, super easy on the inside, great jumps on the outside. After 5 days in the gorge for the george james: they sucked because we had to compete on friday only in sub-planing 5.6-6.2 winds (sometimes so light I couldn't even waterstart for 2 minutes), whereas it was blowing 4.5-4.7 in the morning, but the organizers had their thumbs up their a$#es till 11am when the wind died, and competition finally started... Had we had good winds we (Rich and I) would have given Peter Najim (who -and Zoe too- is a incredible sailor and true aloha guy: we stayed for free at their place) a serious run for his money. Instead, it became a he-who-planes-1st wins match... We (Rich and I) will do the Frenzy next year for sure. Be prepared.

Love the video! This is what I was waiting for! Nice Grubbies and starboard loops! ...and nice almost back-loop... looks like you could have made it! I wish I could have been there :-(
It's funny to think how amazed Rob and I were of the ability of all the gorge sailors the first time I went up there in 2001... people looping all around me and busting out. Seems like Bay Area sailors have busted out in response... BIG TIME!!
